Five star client right here and just in time for the holidays 🤗👉👉👉I was reluctant to treat this young lady as she was only 12 years old. When treating warts, desiccation through diathermy is accurate and extremely effective, however it is not sensation free.

Diathermy Wart Treatment
✅ Energy is released over the whole surface area of the wart by the use of a small needle tapping the affected area
✅ The needle is then inserted a number of times (up to a maximum of five) into the wart to reintroduce the virus back in to the blood stream
✅ Energy is released for up to 30 seconds
✅ A stinging heat sensation may be experienced
✅ Treatment can be uncomfortable but highly effective
✅ More than one treatment may be required with 4-6 weeks between treatments
As the virus sits outside the body, the immune system forgets that the wart is there. In children, they are still building their immunity. The appearance of warts peaks in the teenage years and subsides thereafter. Warts in younger children will appear and disappear within 1-2 years; however warts in adults may persist for up to ten years.

Today, a client came to see me about a skin tag. Their healthcare professional had said, “it’s a cosmetic procedure (not done under the NHS). Just tie it off with some cotton….” Two weeks later >>>> a very painful skin lesion.

⚠️ Why You Should Not Tie Off a Skin Tag at Home:

✅ Risk of Infection:
Tying a string or dental floss around a skin tag cuts off the blood supply, which can lead to tissue death. If the area is not sterile, bacteria can easily get in, causing infection, redness, pus, swelling, and potentially serious complications.

✅ Pain and Bleeding:
Even though skin tags look harmless, trying to ligate them can be surprisingly painful and may bleed a lot if done improperly.

✅ Misdiagnosis:
What you think is a skin tag might actually be a mole, wart, or something more serious (like a growth that needs evaluation). If you tie it off without a proper diagnosis, you could delay appropriate treatment.

✅ Scarring:
DIY removal methods often cause unnecessary scarring or discoloration of the skin.

Bottom line: Never tie off a skin tag yourself. It’s not worth the risk of infection and complications.
Another excellent training day today at Sterex Headquarters. The Wound Healing Process by Jayne Thomas - to gain a greater understanding of the wound healing process and the importance of good practice. It’s always a pleasure to catch up with and meet new acquaintances, working as practitioners in Advanced Cosmetic Procedures. Thank you for today.
